Have you been searching for a summer recreation opportunity that is a strong “fit” for your child? Would the ideal environment provide just enough support to foster social success through participation in fun and constructive activities?
ASPIRE Center’s new summer therapeutic recreation programs have been developed to meet the needs of bright and verbal youth with ASD, ADHD, and other social communication or learning difficulties. Our goal is to provide a welcoming atmosphere where children and adolescents can relax, learn, and feel comfortable being themselves while connecting with other super cool kids and teens. Members of our skilled and experienced professional team combine a traditional day camp approach with constructive games and exercises through a weeklong, half-day curriculum. Programs are designed to facilitate friendship and skill building that youth can generalize upon entering the upcoming school year. Our summer programs flexibly address individual needs while creatively targeting important life skills: socialization, coping, mindfulness, self-awareness, and cooperative participation within a team.

Fun and Friendship Week for Kids
We know how important it is for children to get a head start in developing social abilities, as well as that learning these skills must be fun. With these concepts in mind, we have adapted our popular social coping groups into a “camp-like” half-day program for kids between the ages of 7-10 years old – water fun, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises are all part of a typical day! During outdoor activities, participants will have the opportunity to cool down on hot summer days by running through sprinklers or opting to join a quiet game in the shade. Snack time offers the chance to practice social skills and view interactive multimedia. The fun continues throughout the afternoon, as children learn about their own and others’ emotions through therapeutic games. Each day is capped off by creating tangible social coping tools during arts and crafts time (and, of course, having a blast while doing so!).
